Requirements for Shipping Human Remains to Iran
The following documents must be sent to the Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Washington D.C. to be verified and registered.
The documents will be processed the same day and will be sent back by FedEx for next day delivery. On both side of the package, please write “URGENT” in red ink.
The original Iranian passport of the Deceased.
Original certificates of death which show the cause of death (TWO Original Copies).
Original police report, if death is not due to natural causes.
A letter written by the attending physician specifying the cause of death and verifying that the body does not carry any type of contagious disease.
Embalming affidavit.
Permit for transit of remains issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.
US$40 Money Order payable to the “Embassy of Pakistan”
Notes:
Please provide phone number (with city code) of the family of the deceased in Iran.
The embalmed body must be placed in a hermetically sealable metal casket (Ziegler Casket)
All documents must be original.
For financial reasons, it is recommended to transfer the body by an airline which has connecting flights to Iran
